The main difference between breathable and non-breathable film for diapers lies in their materials, functions and effects of use.
Breathable film is an environmentally friendly breathable (vapor) water-proof (liquid, bacteria, dust) functional material. It is made through special processes and materials and has a microporous structure that allows water vapor to pass through but prevents liquid from passing through. This material has been around for more than 20 years and has developed rapidly in the past 10 years. The principle of breathable membrane is based on the micropores generated by inorganic matter and stretching. The size and distribution of these micropores are crucial to the breathability of breathable film. An effective breathable membrane can form a pressure difference according to the humidity gradient on both sides of the film, thereby promoting gas convection and making the humidity environment on both sides of the film relatively balanced, thereby achieving a breathable function.
In contrast, non-breathable film do not have such a breathable function. They are mainly water-proof film that are used to prevent liquid penetration, but do not have breathable properties. This type of membrane is usually used in applications that require waterproofing but not breathability.
In diapers, breathable film are used to improve the comfort and dryness of diapers. The structure of diapers usually includes a surface coating layer, an absorbent core layer and a bottom layer, wherein the bottom layer is mainly made of PE film or PE film plus non-woven fabric. Using a breathable film as the bottom layer material can effectively prevent urine leakage, while keeping the skin dry and reducing the occurrence of skin problems such as diapers. In addition, the use of a breathable film can also improve the overall comfort of diapers, making babies feel more comfortable during use.
